"SO, the numbers are in, with the audience votes being almost identical. The team that raised the most money was Huntsville Team One, raising $2255. Congrats to Huntsville Team One. Alvia Sandberg, Amit Chadha, Earl Watts, Ron Brown ($664), and the leader of everyone in raising money MaryJustice Lucas with $1130!!!!!!!!! Congratulations to the inaugural winners of the Singer/Songwriters for St Jude award. Blaine Cantrell's donation of the Bud Light Guitar brought in $400. Just the fact we had folks come all the way from Birmingham is a great donation in itself. Meeting those folks was wonderful. Those of you that didn't hang around to see the Birmingham Group missed some AMAZING talent.

But as we all know, there are no losers in this bunch. You all are my hero's. And I'M PROUD to call you my friends."

"Just took in another donation of $4250 bringing the total to
$9297.00!!!! YES!"

I would like to personally thank everyone who contributed and came out to support the St. Jude benefit. This year, Del divided us songwriters into groups and asked us, as individuals and groups, to think of ways we could raise money for St. Jude.  After much thought and prayer, I posted a challenge on Facebook and set my goal to raise $500 or more. I said I would buzz cut my hair in honor and memory of my grandfather, Carl D. Lucas, who  passed away last September because of cancer, and in honor and memory of those, past and present, whose lives had been affected by cancer.  From the bottom of my heart, I thank all of you who made contributions in my name ... totaling  $1,130.00! Every dollar raised toward a cure for cancer puts us that much closer to a cure! Thank you! Thank you!

The show is always wonderful but was exceptional this year. The competition between the groups was fun. We are so proud of you and the amount that you raised with your challenge! Wonderful performance! <3
