Wanna Know What's Happening?

The show last week at Berkeley Bob's in Cullman was great. It was my first time playing there and I do want to go back. The audience was awesome and I got the impression they enjoyed our music. There was a great performance by my friends Ted Whittington, Ron Brown and Allen Watkins at 7:00. If you hear or read that these guys are playing ANYWHERE together, please go. You won't be disappointed. The fiddle, hammered  dulcimer, mandolins, guitars, harmonica's, the different sounds, genres. These guys have it all.

Matt Morrow and I did the second set. What can I say, but that we had a good time and enjoyed the audience. Hope you enjoy these videos of covers we did. The videos of our originals have not been edited...long story... software problem. Maybe I'll revisit those later :)

COMING ATTRACTION!

The Foyer - Huntsville

Let us entertain you at the Foyer - Huntsville

My pal, Matt Morrow and I do a lot of shows together. Someone on YouTube recently posted a comment asking if we were related. The answer to that question is "No." Matt is like my big brother. We met about three years ago at the MOVA Songwriters Competition. Both of us have been winners of that competition, but that year neither  us charmed the judges:( Matt lives in Guntersville and started making the trek to Huntsville frequently for open mics. The beginning of a great friendship between Matt's family and mine! He asked me to do harmonies on his album, "Burlap and Gold" ... had an awesome time recording with Matt and we soon started doing shows and songwriters rounds together. Matt is a multi-talented musician, vocalist, photographer and sketch artist.  . Watch our video below. We covered the Taylor Swift/Civil Wars song "Safe and Sound" and Matt played all the instruments!

Friday night at the Foyer,  a new venue for us, we'll do our individual originals, a little back up singing for each other, some duets, and covers that I know you'll enjoy.  We are really excited to be playing at the Foyer and looking forward to seeing you!

And of course Coffee! My mom says their lattes are awesome, and she surprised me with  a piece of their peanut butter crumble cheese cake that was out of this world!!!

Please subscribe to MaryJustice Lucas Official YouTube and Matt Morrow Music on YouTube

We are expecting to have a great time and invite you to come and join in the fun! We start singing at 9:00PM, so come on and get a spot and your coffee, soft drink, dessert or snack! They will even let you create your own "Experimental" drink!!! See you there!

How Time Flies!

And we can't "Rewind"! I can't believe it's been a month since I posted. Christmas came and went and here we are in the middle of January 2013 and I haven't wished all my blogger buddies "Happy New Year"!

So, a belated "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year"!

I'm still busy with school. The way time flies, graduation will be here before I know it! Excited ... but first I have some work to do. I've written a couple of new songs, but not ready to share a video just yet. Later, I hope. There's  been some good feedback. So, that makes me happy.

We had a great songwriter's round at Emma's Tea Room Dec 8th. I was in a round with Emma Klein and Matt Morrow. Emma's Tea Room just opened up to songwriters on Friday nights. Another place to perform with fellow songwriters. So much fun. Then, on December 27th we were did a round together at Hotel Indigo-Downtown Nashville. Emma set this up and invited Matt and me to join her. Thank you, Emma!

Oh yeah! If you see this photo anywhere on the internet, please click on it, give it a listen, and get a free download of "Fix You". I would appreciate it so much. WOW! Was I surprised to see it on Fox News homepage just a few minutes ago! How cool is that?

In case I don't get a chance to post in the next few weeks, let me invite everyone in the area to drop in at The Foyer on January 25th and join Matt Morrow and me for a showcase there. This is a new venue for me and I'm excited to perform there with Matt. We'll do originals and covers ... solos and duets. We love covering The Civil Wars. Come let us entertain you!

I'm beginning to feel like the White Rabbit in "Alice Through The Looking Glass" always on the run! Until the next time ... I love you guys!

Forgiveness and Faith

Christmas is almost here! I love Christmas and I especially love why we celebrate this event. I thought I would share  with you just a small portion of what God's gift of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus means to me. One of my favorite scriptures is a parable told by Jesus to his disciples in the Book of Matthew. And, since seven is my favorite number, I especially love this  explanation:

The term 70x7 is synonymous with God's eternal forgiveness. Matthew 18:21-22 in the new King James version of the Bible reads: Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven  times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven."

This is a short song I wrote ... not really a song, but more like a poem or prose with music. I hope you enjoy it and that it will  bless you as well. (psst ... whispering ...  turn off the music in the sidebar and play my video:)

So Much To Share!

Hello to all my blogger buddies. Time can really get away from us. I've been busy with school and bunches of other things.

First, let me share with you this awesome song by For King & Country. It really speaks to me and I hope it will speak to you as well. Note: Joel and Luke of For King & Country are younger brothers of Rebecca St. James, award-winning recording artist, writer, actress. Rebecca started "opening" for singers at age 12. The family moved from Australia to Nashville when Rebecca was in her teens... record deal! :)

Friday night, December 7th, 6:00 - 8:00 join me to kick off the new Huntsville Songwriter's Round at Emma's on Pratt Avenue. Mrs. Klein, owner of Emma's Tea Room saw the need for more venues for us songwriters and did not waste any time setting things up. So, come join us for an evening of songs with a good variety of pop, country, Christian, Americana!

MaryJustice Lucas (me), Larry Cole, Marge Loveday,
Megan McMillan, Ron Brown, Karen Newsum,
Laura Lynn Hardy, Matt Morrow and Emma Klein.

So, after the fun of Friday night, I'm off to UAH for a fun morning of ACT testing! But for now, off to church!
